240 doesn't like to run with the bulls 200 1990

I have a '90 240DL. Currently it idles rough, sputters, stalls, goes from no power to full power suddenly & then back again. New plugs have already been fouled. When I do get it to run @ traffic speeds I have to ride the clutch to keep it from "de-powering". The problem seemed to start as we headed into cooler temps here in Western NY & has gotten worse with decreasing temps & increasing moisture.

Any clues?
