I recently replaced the Front seals and Timing Belt on my 740 with 208,000 and noticed that the Timing Belt Gear had grooved the Crankshaft quite a bit and there was some wobble in the gear. I checked out my 1987 740 parts car with 228,000 miles and noticed there was considerable wear on the crankshaft of that car also and since there has never been a loose pulley bolt or anything done incorrectly, this must be normal wear. Has anyone found a good repair for this? I spread a layer of "Hondabond 4" (used for joining motorcyle crankcases, etc. where there is no gasket) on the crankshaft where the wear was to tighten up the gear as an experiment. Maybe the wear doesn't matter much since the belt will "absorb" the play in the gear/crankshaft wobble. I would be interested in any comments on this wear and it's results on belt life, fixes to tighten the gear/crankshaft fit, etc. etc. Thanks
