Last week, I described how my engine missed badly at cold start and then proceeded to "knock/ping" during a test drive. A compression test revealed excellent compression on all cylinders and a broken electrode on #1 sparkplug. Replace plug and engine ran great when cold/when warm. Vacuum gage suggested no vacuum leaks.
However, this morning it again missed badly (like it might break a motor mount) for about 90 seconds at cold start.
I'm wondering if the legendary #561 ECU in this car is throwing the timing off periodically, causing the miss and breaking that spark plug through pre-ignition? Or could it be something more simple in the warm-up system? Any thoughts on this appreciated...
Thanks...
