I'm getting a scrapping sound from the rear brakes... 200 1980

I just put new rear rotors and pads on my '80 245DL about 2 or 3 weeks ago. All has been fine until just recently.

Sometimes when I brake now, I can hear something that sounds like a brushing/scraping noise coming from the back of the car, specifically the rotors. It’s not a consistently scraping noise though. The pattern reminds me of a record scratch (you hear the noise at the same point in every rotation, but not during the entire rotation.) It’s a lot faster then a record scratch though.

Now, I've looked at the rotors from the outside (with out removing the tire yet) and I didn't see anything that didn't look normal.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be? I will be removing the tires sometime in the next could of days to have a look, but it's always good to have an idea of what I'm looking for going into it.

One other detail: When I was removing the old rotors, I damaged one set of parking brake shoes. I just ended up removing the shoes and the parts that attach them. (The cable needs to be replaced anyway, so I figured I'd just wait until I got a new cable to replace all that stuff). I don't think this is related, since the noise is coming from the opposite side of the car, but who knows?

Thanks as always.
