Steering Column Dissassembly 900 1995

A few weeks ago I put a post up about a knock or click comming from the steering column on my 940 wagon. I few people made suggestions about lubing the steering shaft u-joints which I did to no avail. A very reputable Volvo mechanic looked at it and said it was a bearing in the steering column which he had adjusted/tightened, but he didn't reccommend replacement because it won't lock up. Does any one have expirience removing and dissassembling the steering column? Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.
