So I've been told that my no-start(seemingly flooded) problem that occurs only after the car has just been driven to warmth is being caused by a bad Engine Temperature Collant Sensor wedged under intake manifold #3.The flood takes over 1.5hr to go away and car starts right up. Try starting before that and you get good crank but no piston firing (extra info:Mech figured out ~1hr after drive holding gas pedal to floor and cranking,letting car cough awhile, it might start up). FP Relay and Radio Suppresion Relay check out for no cracks in solder(is that all I was lookin for?).
Now since this sensor seems only replacable by removing the intake manifold I am hesitant to do so unless I need to. So a friend came up with the idea that I can stick a resistor in the female wiring harness of the ECT connector to simulate what a warm engine sends(per the 700 FAQ which lists resistace #'s @ temps i was able to find a 220ohm 1/2w resistor at Radio Shack). The idea is that this will stop the flooding out that the mech told me is being caused by this.
So
1.) Is it a bad idea to bypass the ECT in this way?
2.) If no, then is this the proper resistor I have chosen?
I am just trying to elim a part w/o buying so I can move on to other possibles like RPM sensor.
