Weird overheating engine stalling problem on 740 700

I recently had the ignition computer replaced on my '88 740 with B230E. Now whenever my car heats up, not overheats, but heats up higher than normal operating temperature, like when I've been chugging through a traffic jam, and the car has been idling for a while, the car will cut out and stall. I have been avoiding the situation by turning the car off whenever I am sitting at lights and such, but I want to fix the problem. Anyone have a possible solution?
