I'm stumped over a problem with a '83 242TI. The engine is low mileage (less than 50K mi) and runs well until thoroughly warmed up (30 mi or more on highway). I have replaced fuel filter and both fuel pumps (current draw was very high). Coolant temp is fine and the oil temp stabilzes at 70 deg C. After running on the highway for 25-30 mi., The engine begins to run poorly and requires more throttle to maintain 65. At WOT, it appears to be ok. I've picked up a a/f meter and will install it soon. The only thing that seems to be a little out of spec is oil pressure. With a new sender, I register 3 bar or a little less at 3K rpm (Mobil 1 10-30). At idle its just over 1 bar. The problem does not occur on short trips (10-15mi) even though temps reach normal. Opinions welcome.
