I've owned a 1984 242 for the last 3 years. Recently it has begun stalling intermittently. It doesn't seem to effect the electronic components because the radio/wipers/etc. continue to work.
It happens going slow on side roads, or fast on the highway. It happens when the engine is cold, and when the engine is warm. Sometimes it won't happen at all. Sometimes it won't start right away but once it does it's fine. Sometimes it will cut out and I'll have a hard time getting it to start again. It will trun over, but won't catch. Other times, if I just coast, it will kick back in again.
I've had it to different mechanics, but no one knows what the problem is. I'm frustrated and hate to trash a good solid volvo if it's just a little problem. Please help. Time is of the essence, I'm tired of taking the bus to work.
Thank you.
