What's living in your air cleaner? 200

Greetings all,

Here is a performance tip that some of you might not have encountered before:

I was performing the usual maintenance on my recently purchased '85 240 DL; plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil, etc, and thought I should also replace the air cleaner. Given how well maintained the previous owner kept this car, I was somewhat surprised at how dirty the air cleaner was upon removal. Being as I was doing the service at dusk, I didn't initially notice the obstruction that was causing me difficulty in replacing the air cleaner element. But upon looking closer, I discovered that the entire lower half of the air cleaner box was filled with a rodent's nest, right down to the partially eaten acorns at the bottom.

Performance tip: removal of rodent's nest covering half the air cleaner will significantly improve performance! The car now steps out quite briskly! Amazing what a little improvement in air flow will do!
