Oil Cooler 200

Does anyone have any experience with a factory oil cooler? It installs under the oil filter and has a radiator that mounts up front I presume. Does anyone out there have opinions on the need for oil coolers? My old Chevy truck has one and I like the idea that the cooler increases my oil capacity as well as dispensing with some engine heat. I live in Chico CA where it is regularly 95 to 100 in the summer.
