Greetings All!
Looks like our oldest son may make the dean's list this semester, which means he gets to take our 91 244 back to school next semester. Right now the only unknown is the condition/age/mileage of the timing belt--this si of some concern since the nearest garage is about an hour away from the school.
Just curious--is there any way to determine if a timing belt needs replacement just by looking at it? We bought the car from a garage a couple of years ago--they had just done the clutch and installed a new windshield, but had no records on the timing belt. FWIW, there are no leaks from the front seals or the coolant pump. Oh, current mileage is 124K (had 104K when we bought it).
Is there something I should look for, or just go ahead and do the belt? Should I do the seals at the same time, or just let non-leaking dogs lie?
Thanks in advance for your insights!
