I just got the new Sport Compact Car magazine and they build a cheap intercooler sprayer out of sprinkler parts. I have replaced my head gasket, thermostat, antifreeze, fan clutch, and radiator but I still have problems keeping my car cool on the highway. I even put in the 3 row heavy duty radiator! I was thinking I could build a sprayer system to spray water on the intercooler when the car gets hot, but I wonder how well it would work.

The set up of the sprayer system seems really simple. Just hook a hose to one of the windsheild washer sprayer motors and run the hose to 2 little sprinkler nozzels in front of the intercooler. I was thinking of using the rear sprayer motor since I never use it and the wiper doesn't work.

I don't know if the intercooler in front of the radiator affects the cooling capabilities of my radiator in any significant way, but It is running too hot on the highway. In the city it stays the coolest in stop and go driving. I don't ever drive on the highway, but I'm going to college this summer and I will need to drive on the highway a lot, or get a new car. I was wondering if anybody else with an intercooled turbo has this problem of overheating on the highway, and should I go through the trouble of making the intercooler sprayer to cool off the car.
