wagon vs. sedan 700

Which is safer for my wife and baby to drive in ice and snow in, my 740 GLE sedan or my 745T wagon? I drove my daughter to school this a.m. in the wagon and it fishtailed a lot on icy/slick roads. I can't remember experiencing that in the sedan. Is there a difference in the way the two cars would handle in icy and snowy conditions? (I haven't put on my snows yet, nor have I put extra weight in the back yet.)
