Car would not start this morning, only has about 80K miles on clock. The engine turns but does not start. Only ever not started once before, faulty starter motor - replaced about 5 years ago. I checked & cleaned plugs - seem normal, leads replaced 2 yrs ago, cleaned distributor also replaced 2 yrs ago. Still no start. Battery is good.
I have not checked for spark at plugs, or from coil to distributor. I am not sure if I should be able to hear fuel pump when turning on ignition, but I cannot hear any pump noise. Fuses for pump seem OK.
I am not sure about the ignition side yet, but car ran fine yesterday and engine turns easily so I am tending to think there may be a problem on the fuel side. Any ideas as to what I should try next? Is there any simple test or sign that I should be looking for first that might offer the solution? Any help gratefully received.
