Thanks for the suggestions regarding the speedometer problem.. reading faster than actual speed. I checked my (new) tire size and sure enough.. 185-70 R14's.
Darn.
I do have my own '80 244 that could use new tires, although I was going to wait for Spring. The 244's tires have some more life in them, but what else can I do?
My odometer was broken in the other speedo, so replacing the wagon's speedo from ebay to the tune of about 55.00 wasn't a killer.
Unfortunately, with the wrong tire size, the odometer will read more miles than actually driven. I'll need a calculator to figure speed and mileage.
Question: I suppose if I put a sedan speedo in there, the readings would be correct. But I guess the car would get much better mileage with the right tires, not to mention it wasn't designed for the smaller tire.
Any thoughts/ suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Larry
