New Fuel Tank Sending Unit 200

Hi All -

Im working on the fuel sending unit of my 87 240. I decided to go out and purchase a new unit - the old one is rusted through.

I noticed that it looks nothing like the old unit in the fact that it is plastic and doesnt appear to attach to the tank in the same way as the old steel unit...

Is this standard - meaning I will need to get a new tank, too? Should the replacement be metal as the old unit?

Thanks!! You guys are a HUGE help in keeping this old volvo going..
