gas tank position in relation to trunk interior question 900 1991

Hello! I have a '91 940 GLE sedan, and I want to attach a storage rack in the trunk, right behind the seats. There is a ledge behind the spare tire well, but how close is the gas tank to this ledge? Will I be able to drill through the sheet metal and drive a selftapping screw in there or do I risk hitting the gas tank? Thanks!!
