Peoples experiences with engine noise 700

I just read a good posting (900 section) about loud engine
noise at higher rpms. I have the same situation in my 740.
Has anyone tried to put up sound proofing material? If
so, where was it placed and did it make a big enough difference
to warrant the money and time?
