Hello all,
I initially bought this 1991 740 turbo wagon a year ago to replace my 1987 V8 740 project. It turned out that this "newer" car was way too clean to cut up for the V8 and the turbo engine is still running strong at 182,000mi so I have been driving it daily. The car has most service records and still has the original window sticker! I never expected it to be this clean. Anyway, I'm buying a different project car and want to sell the wagon to someone who will appreciate it for what it is...a nice clean and solid Volvo turbo wagon and NOT a V8 project car (unless someone wants a really solid car to start with and would sell the turbo drivetrain, I guess.)
Now my dilemma: Before I even picked the car up, I ordered the IPD Sport Springs, Boge Turbo shocks/struts/upper strut bearings, full front suspension bushing upgrade, ball joints, stainless brake lines...EVERYTHING! Now that I'm going to be selling the car to finance a bit more radical project, I'm wondering if it's worth installing these parts first before the sale. The new intercooler hoses, timing belt, etc make sense and they've been installed already but I'm just not sure if the value is much different with the suspension done (I'm most concerned about lowering it with the sport springs as many people may not like a lowered vehicle...it is considered "altered" at that point.)
At the very least, it needs the strut rod bushings replaced. Oh yeah, did I mention I'm an ex-mechanic and I'll be doing the work myself? That will save quite a bit of the cost of installation...just need to pay for an alignment.
Any input is appreciated.
Regards,
Mike Kelsch
