Someone is selling me a 1985 740 GLE wagon turbo, automatic, 171k miles, PW, PS, AC, cassette, power brakes, sunroof, clean title and DMV, straight body.
The owner's wife said that the owner/husband thinks the car needs a new "modulator," whatever that is. "The car will turn over, but won't
start. He has replaced the following parts within the last 6
months (all new): waterpump, starter, thermostat, radiator, fan clutch,
alternator tensioner, new front cam seal and new valve
cover gasket."
Although I know 240 non-turbos intimately, I know absolutely NOTHING about turbos; what could be wrong here? Is there anything different about turbos that could cause this problem? How do I test the turbo to see if it's faulty?
Thanks in advance.
