Ok, so I thought paying $200 was a good deal for a car that I am going to ice race (use blizzak tires on an ice track). Now it seems that the car has way too many sensors, computers, wires etc (typical BOSCH system)for me to work on it myself. My budget is minimal as the car will not be put on the road, nor etested safetied etc. I was wondering how I could cheaply and easily get it running smoothly? Any mods that would get ride of a lot of the vacuum hoses, wires, etc that perhaps were intended for the North American market but r not necessary if car is used for the "track".
1985, 740 GLE, B230F, 2.3L, std.
Symptoms: car starts (reluctantly), idles too low and stalls (must keep a bit of throttle on until warm), once warm engine coughs and sometimes backfires when throttle is punched (if throttle is depressed slowly car revs up smoothly)
History: car sat for last year, no air filter in air box, some wires appear to have no insulation left on them specifically those from the back of the alternator and one to some kind of sensor Bango bolted to the intake side of the head below the 2nd and 3rd intake and another on the other side of the block. Also smaller + lead to the batter is still connected but barely. All other wiring appears to be in good shape. Checked all fuses and they are good, contacts clean. Pulled plugs and cleaned they had black carbon even film on them (they a CTC plugs)
Anyone Help? :-)
