Question:
I drive a recently purchased and well maintained Volvo 745 GLE with an AW transmission, and 204k miles. I am really trying to keep this thing in tip-top-shape, and it really is in excellent condition. I know that the engines on these cars more often than not outlast the trannys, and if I really like the 740 is it worth it to pick up an m46/m47 for conversion later, in case the worst happens? Also, how much does it cost, on average, to have a shop do the conversion from aw7x to manual tranny not including the cost of the tranny? Thanks so much for your time.
