A while ago, I had posted that I had an intermittent clunking noise when letting off the gas a low speeds (like around 15MPH). The noise seemed to be coming from the right rear, but a check of all bolts on the rear & the driveshaft showed nothing.
Well, as a friend of mine says "The worse it gets, the quicker gets worse." Yesterday, the clunking began to happen every time I let off the gas. With the right front window open, it sounded more like the noise was coming from the right front.
When I went to remove the lug nuts from the right front, the wheel moved backwards about an inch each time I broke a lug nut free. Uh-Oh. Removing the wheel revealed that the bolt holding the bushing into the front of the lower control arm stay was gone. I was actually able to find the bolt and collar by going back to the parking lot where I had heard a loud pop while backing out of the space that morning, but I've had to order new bushings. ($4.95 from www.importpartsspec.com).
A cheap resolution to what could have been a huge problem.
I don't think the bushing replacement instructions said to use Loctite on the bolts, but apparently it is necessary. It took 30,000 miles to back out, but it shouldn't have backed out at all.
