THANKS again for the help on the stalling in a previous post...FIXED. Now, my car makes a roaring noise in overdrive only. I get this noise only when the gearshift OD button is depressed and the dash OD light is on. It sounds like the car is in four-wheel drive, but it's not. and it only happens when the car is in overdrive. It sounds like it's coming from the entire underside of the car, and it seems to be loudest between 45 and 55. My guess is that this means a bearing or something in the OD part of the transmission has gone bad. It just started tonight, out of nowhere on the highway, at 107k miles on a 1981 GL (240). Does someone know what this could be? -Having been laid off from two I.T. jobs now in four years, i am very thankful to those of you who have offered insight into keeping an otherwise economical car on the road...
