Can synth oil reduce oil consumption? 900 1992

It seems that's what I have been experiencing since I have started to use synthetic oil.

Could it be that the detergents in the oil have cleaned the carbon deposits off the valves, thus reducing oil consumption?

Or rather, does that have to do with cleaning the pistons/rings?

Anyway, since I have started using synthetic, my oil consumption has improved dramatically.

That'd be another benefit of synthetic oil...
