Auto Trans colling line leak 200 1989

I have a leak in one of the transmission cooler lines on my 89 240. From reviewing the archives, this is a fairly common problem for these cars.

The question now is what to do about it. Leaving it alone is a non starter.

Whats the best fix here? As I see it there are several options.

1. New lines
2. Cut out the bad section and rejoin using a flare union. What size?
3. Cut out the bad section and rejoin using a compression fitting. What size?
4. Cut out the bad section and rejoin using fuel line and clamps.

I was ready to go with number 4 as I had seen mention of it as the solution when I realized how close the patches would be to the exhaust pipe.

Any body got any input? I need my car back on the road.

Thanks

Zimm
