I haven't spent a lot of time around the car yet, but a friend of mine recently acquired a very nice white 1990 DL sedan (aprox. 250,000 miles).

There is an intermitent no-start situation that only occurs when the engine is warm. I've already swapped the Main Fuel Pump/Injection relay for a known working one and it did not solve the problem. While changing the relay, I noticed that the computer was replaced at some point (new Volvo tags on it and a installation date code in the late 1990s), but I don't have the part number in front of me.

If any of you have any ideas as to where the trouble shooting should start, please advise. I would be greatly appreciated since I don't have a lot of time to spend with the vehicle. A few things that I've considered to look into, but I'm not convinced it's any of them:
1. Inductive Pickup in the Distributor. (but I would suspect a more consistant behavior if so)
2. Air Mass Meter issue. -I've seen stranger behavior from these before.
3. Intank pump related??? (doubtful, but I noticed the gas guage is around 1/4)
4. Ignition coil? -or Dist Cap?

Sorry I don't have more details. I hoping that this symptom is familiar to someone who's dug into the 2.4 Jetronic systems (I'm a bit more familiar with the 2.0 and 2.2 systems and there's a few parts in the 2.4 that I don't recognise and my books are not nearby). As of now, the car has not mis-behaved for me yet (but it acts up for the owner). After getting the call from my friend, driving to the place he's stuck, the car starts just fine for me. Needless to say, he thinks the car is playing favorites.......
