Life of the dreaded PRV engine 200 1981

Does anyone have reliable statistics about the lifetime of the dreaded PRV V6 engine? I have had (for the last 17 years) a 1981 264 GLE and the mileage is approaching 230,000 kilometers. I have never had the engine past half way to the redline and have changed the oil and coolants on time. Except when the two local Volvo agents messed up the tuning, I've never had any trouble with it. Some opinions are that the engines die from abuse and neglect and others say the lifetime is unpredictable. Here in Australia the preferred option when the V6 dies is to replace it with a four (B230F or similar), together with the four speed AW transmission. Having just bought a 1989 740GL (B230F, non-turbo) as a second Volvo I'm really going to miss that V6 when it dies. Does anyone have any statistics or 'blue screen of death' stories that would help me judge the future for my 264?
