service engine light on after replacing front and rear muffler - should i be concerned? 200 1987

I recently replaced the front and rear muffler and pipes to my '87 244 -- what has happened after installation of the new exhaust is that upon starting the car (for the first two minutes) the service engine light will go on. so my question is:

1) what would cause the service engine light to go on,
2) why does it turn itself off after 2 minutes and
3) should I be concerned?
