Okay, so lets lay out the specs on what I'm driving. She's an '87 745 GLE in excellent shape with a healthy 204k miles, an AW7x tranny - the rest standard Volvo stuff. Well, my problem is that I noticed (I've developed my "preventative maintenence ear" or that's what I like to call it) a slight groaning sound that comes when I'm slowing down to a stop or moving off from a stop that I can almost feel. Well, it's not really that noticable - if I weren't a freak about all this I'd never notice anything. That aside, I was wondering with this sound if there's anything I should watch out for. Feels like it's coming from the front - thought it might have been the brakes or something as I first noticed it when I was braking, and thought the noise was a brake issue when I was slowing down. Anyway, it's sort of a subtle groaning that winds down as I slow down - it goes away by the time I stop. And it's definitely not there when I'm moving down I-95. Anyways, any input about this is helpful. Thanks!
