I'm planning to take the cover plate off the differential of my 91 940 sedan (live axle) to investigate a possible cause of the clunking sound coming from the back. I just rang the Volvo dealer here in Brisbane (australia) and he said that the gasket is actually some type of paint on compound ( at a cost of AU$60!!!) Does anyone know what this stuff is and where I might be able to get it? I'm not paying 60 bucks for it.

Thanks for any advice.
