My wife was driving on I-95, at about 60MPH the engine stalled, no warning, no lights, normal temp, no smoke, no noise, no fluid escaping. She coasted to the side of the road and attempted to restart -- no joy. The car will turn on all lights and indicators, then when the key is turned to start, the engine will VERY slightly crank, then nothing. it will not start from a jump either.
I replaced the battery (the guys at Sears told me it was bad) and then tried starting in Neutral, no dice. If I put the car in Drive and attempt, the car does nothing, not even the VERY slight crank, so I do not think it is the Neutral swtich.
It is drawing current, as the indicators will dim to almost nothing when I try to start it. and you can hear the solinoid of the starter engage, but nothing else...
The car is still out there and I need to get it home, looks like the midnight towing service is back in action...
Any ideas? Bad starter? why did it stall at 60MPH? Bad relay? Bad coil? I am clueless...
Any help is appreciated...
Thanks!
