Heater hose Q 200 1979

Hi all. Can I use a cut to fit type of heater hose? The part store guy couldn't find one in his computer for my year (1979). Or would any year 240 heater hose work? I know I can order one, but I am going to be leaving on a road trip (hose premitting) and need one sooner than I can get one, as the case always is. Take care all.
