dash warning lights don't come on in position II 200

Shouldn't they come on? None of them do, except the parking brake light. In fact, I can hardly remember ever seeing the lambda sond light. That reminds me, the car is a K-jetronic 240.

I'm asking this because I'm having charging problems--volvoworld.com has led me to believe that a working "charging system failure" light is necessary for charging. Well, it doesn't seem like mine is working. What could be wrong?
