Central Locking Will Not Open Boot, Relay or something else? 700 1989

HI Ya

My wagon was looked at the other day, regarding the boot will not open from the outside.
My mechanic says that it needs a new central locking control centre, does he mean the relay or is there another piece that controls it.He managed to open it but said don't lock the car otherwise it will not open again.Hopefully i can pick one up at the junk yard.

Any help would be great.
