Rear Deck Speakers 900 1991

Ok, so i want to instal some 6x9 inch speakers on the rear deck of my car. Here's the question: Do i need to cut the rear deck? Underneath there are of course the 2 precut holes, and on the rear deck in the interior, the middle seat belt blocks where the left speaker would go, so do i just put them underneath the deck and play through the deck? Thanks!
