Loud buzz coming from main fuel pump 200

Hi, my 85 240 turbo main pump makes a loud buzz when the car is started. it does it sometimes and not others. i can usually turn it off when it does it, and it sometimes stops.

A few months ago it did this and a friend/volvo mechanic said that it is likely the pre pump. when i had the pre pump assembly out of the tank, i noticed that i could unplug the wire and the main pump would make the buzz sound, therefore i knew it was most likely the pre pump's doing.

i replaced the pre pump and now it is occasionally doing the wierd buzz sound, not always.

is there a relay that cause this or what?
