Changed tail/brake light bulbs. Now I have no brake lights! 700 1990

I had cause yesterday to replace both of the combined tail/brake light bulbs on my 745. Only one had blown, but in the interests of reliabiltiy I replaced its opposite number as well. I used the correct wattage and type of bulb.

Now I find that I have no brake lights in the main cluster (only the high level light) and the bulb failure light comes on every time I brake! What have I done wrong? Have I put the bulbs or their holders in upside down? They seemed to go back in okay!

I don't want to be stopped by the police for fualty lights. I feel super unhappy at the lights not functioning as they should, especially as they were fine before one of the bulbs blew.

Please help!
