Crank scrapers?

I've seen a few of the crank scrapers on Ebay for the B230 engine... Has anyone used a crank scraper? If so is performance increased? Or is Volvo reliablity / engine longevity compromised by using these things? If anyone's had any experience with these I'd appreciate your input!
