carburetter gasket 700 1986

Hello,

I have got the above car with a B230K engine. It has a pierburg 2B5 carburetter and I was wandering if a leaking top carburetter gasket could cause a high idle from vaccume leaks. I am going to replace the gasket in the new year.

The car also occasionaly suffers from jerkyness when you slowly release the accelarator and the revs hang on, then after a while drop, either drop when changing gear or a quick blast of accelaration. I spoke to volvo and they said it has probably got a jet blocked in the carb and suggested using redex in the fuel to clean the fuel system. I have been using redex for about a week.
