cleaning cruise control and washer button switches, how? 900

how does one clean the push buttons at the ends of the turn signal and windshield wiper switches. These are the ones you have to push in. on one of my volvos, the button sticks when pressed, on the other, the button is stuck (I am scared to press it to hard). How does one clean those button switches (can they even be cleaned?)?
