Tran Filter & gasket? 3 questions 900

After doing a trans flush (@ 103K), I now have a whinning that ceases after a few minutes on the road. The local Indie suggested that I have a clogged trans filter.

I've looked though the FAQs and also older posts and still need some definitive statements.
I get the impression that Volvo says my 97 960 has no trans filter, but there is one; y/n?
I also have the impression that if there is a filter, I can clean it, y/n?

When replacing the trans pan will I need a gasket or some kind of sealer?
