Cam Tie Rod and Tie Rod Ends 200 1990

Anyone ever remove the tie rods from a Cam rack? I was set to do it last time while working on the car - I did the ball joints - springs - strut insert - etc and was wiped - I looked at the tie rod and they had a little dimple on it that locks it on the rack. I tried to bend it up with a small screwdriver but couldn't do it. I intend to buy some cold chisels and try again (with more enthusiasm) How does that dimple get removed? Also, should I re-grease the rack? With what? Thanks all.
