Idle 530 rpm, OBD Code 1-2-1 (AMM) 200 1989

My 245 DL is idling at 530 rpm and stalls out (interestingly, when I pump the brakes at a stop-light, the ignition also dies out). I ran the OBD-1 and found fault code 1-2-1, suggestive of the air mass meter and/or AMM wiring. Does a faulty AMM cause a slow idle speed? How risky is it to get a junkyard AMM? What does Pick-N-Pull charge for AMMs (1989-1993 era)? How do I test the wiring?
