Temperature control cable. 700 1990

The temperature control cable on my 90 744ti does not go all the way into the heat zone or right. This is fine now but during the summer I have to pull the controller out and push the cable in to obtain maximum cooling. I have pulled the glove box and checked cable and it is routed correctly. It seems as if this all started after I had my evaporater replaced. With that being said is it possible that the door was installed incorrectly?
Does any body have a suggestion.
