Water Temp guage, 50% Heat & hiss under hood S90-V90 1998

Help! It's Christmas Day and all the shops are closed and I'm in mid-trip at a stop over at the in'laws... Drove the car about 20 miles last night and it took forever to blow hot air... Temperature Gauge was running low (cool) to zero(all the way to the left...) with inconsistent readings when stopped at idle - one time read normal at stop when it was reading low while driving & once read normal while driving but zero while idling. Got back out to the farm and there was a hissing from under hood (general area of the AC compressor) but it was dark and I couldn't see for certain.... Checked it this morning, fluid levels all normal, no evidence of liquid leaks, no obvious loose or broken/cracked connections or hoses... Did find one small black screw down cap over a valve fitting in line with AC compressor that was unscrewed and hanging off, and I screwed it back down

Need help desperately...am supposed to be traveling further today and need to know if its safe to drive...or how to fix it....

Post to here or email at quickle@darientel.net or call me at (912) 222-6562 and I'll return your call!
