Distrubutor compatibility ? Replace 001 with a 008 ? 200

I am pretty sure that my 1985 240 is having an intermittent Hall sensor problem (the unpredicatable loss of spark has made it too dangeous to drive ) . I have found another distributor with a different # 008 at the end . The current distributor is a # 001 . Is it compatibile with my ECU etc ? Thanks
