Going through my "new" '87 245 M47 w/235k miles on it... A few questions on brakes.
The inner piston on both rear calipers were seized, I was able to put them in a vice and compress them in to get the new pads in. There was alot of resistance in the vice but they eventually popped. Reinstalled the calipers and bled the system following the Bentley manual. Started up the car and tried gently tried the brakes...'Brake Failure' light came on and the peddle was soft.
I checked out the calipers again and it doesn't look like the (previously) seized piston is working. My question is this: Would the siezed piston make the Brake Failure light come on and cause the poor peddle response?
New subject: I also did a cap/rotor/wires/plugs tune up and changed the oil and filter. I disconnected the battery before removing the filter as it was a little tight... When I started the car (and the Brake Fail light came on), the yellow arrow at the right side of the instrument cluster came on and remains on. Not blinking. I've got an M47 in the car so it's not the OD light...and it wasn't working like a shift indicator (like my '90 M47 used to do) Did I do something when I disconnected the battery? Anything I can do to clear it?
Thanks!!!!
Bean (stuck working on his car 90 minutes from home!)
