Should I Even Consider Buying This 940?? 900

I curently own an 89 240DL which will go to my son and am looking at a 940 for myself. I went to a used car dealer today to test drive a 94 940 with 103K, selling for $4900. First off, the car was advertised as a non turbo, but it is a turbo! The salesman did not know. He thought that it had to say "Turbo" on the back to be a turbo. I pointed out the turbo to him. When I test drove the car, it would not accelerate! I'm thinking to myself, there must be something serious wrong with this car. The engine looks clean, idles nice and sounds o.k., but when I stomped on the pedal--nothing. It starts to accelerate then about 30-40 slows a bit. It felt much like a gas golf cart when the govenor kicks in and restricts the motor. A 940 turbo ought to have some giddy up and go right? My 240 can knock it's socks off. I was unable to get it on the freeway, but I doubt it could get up to 60-70 without a long long run of road.
My first thought was "the turbo is shot, run away from this dealer as fast as you can." Then I thought, it is possible that there may be something else wrong, something less expensive than replacing a turbo. I'm thinking I should take it to my very trusted all knowing Volvo mechanic for a look over. I'm thinking I might be able to use this imperfection to my advantage and get the salesman to knock off a big chuck of $ to take away his problem. So my questions to you guys are these:
- Should I run away as fast as I can?
- If the turbo is shot, is it worth it to replace it. How much?
- Any other ideas what this may be? A bad AMM maybe?
- Let the dealer take it to HIS Volvo mechanic
- Do the headlight lens on a 940 yellow like on a 240? The headlights looked very clear (ie maybe replaced after an accident) but the smaller lens inside each headlight were yellowed some.
- Any clues how to tell if it has been in an accident.

The radiator looked new. The battery was new. Exterior paint was in pretty good shape overall. Interior nice overall, though the driver's leather seat was worn some. Carfax showed a single owner. The salesman said that he actually met the woman at the auction where he bought the car. Why would an owner sell her own car at an auction? You get more by advertising in the paper or even trading in at the dealership. Supposedly, she got a new Volvo. Would love to hear your thougths out there.
